Tool overview
The “Sketch-to-Pipes” system was co-designed as part of a four-year SERI research project by SFUVET together with Scuola professionale artigianale e industriale (SPAI) Locarno. The AR/VR application supports learners in the implementation of 2D isometric pipe drawings into 3D pipe systems and promotes spatial abilities and technical drawing skills through practical exercises. Parallel to the implementation at SPAI Locarno , an additional implementation took place at the gibb vocational school in Bern Commercial Vocational School in Chur, and a user-centered further development is being carried out with the support of BeLEARN and the additional cooperation of EPFL using multimodal data such as eye tracking and hand movements to analyze task behavior and learning processes. The direct translation into school practice ensures a didactically meaningful, user-friendly and easy-to-integrate implementation together with schools.
