Project Lunch From visual programming to computational thinking
From visual programming to computational thinking
How can hands-on programming activities help beginners develop computational thinking?
In this Project Lunch, we will present an ongoing BeLEARN project exploring how computational thinking can be explicitly supported in syntax-free programming environments. Using Candli for game design and PrograBlock for robotics, the project focuses on the development of teaching materials and learning supports that help beginners decompose complex tasks, move between different levels of abstraction, build clearer mental models of program execution, and refine their solutions through practice.
We look forward to discussing how such supports can be integrated into programming-based learning environments, and how computational thinking can be fostered, observed, and evaluated in practice.
