Our translation model proposes a hybrid space in which research and practice are in continuous dialogue, learn from each other and inspire each other. BeLEARN acts as a national platform on which research is stimulated by practice and scientific findings are purposefully and systematically transferred into practical application.
Needs & Trends
BeLEARN continuously shares knowledge on the challenges in the education system with a focus on digital change on its own online platform BeLEARN-Connect. This knowledge, which consists of studies, specialist articles and voices from the field, is made available to both the research community and all members of the BeLEARN community. The aim is to sensitize stakeholders to the current challenges in the education system and to stimulate practice-oriented research projects.
Co-Design & Funding
BeLEARN conducts two calls for research funding every year: The Barcamp brings together researchers, start-ups and practice partners to develop innovative ideas and draw up project proposals. An accompanying program provides impulses on educational topics, technological trends and useful open source solutions. The Booster Fund offers start-up financing for practice-oriented projects. Other (university) schools, start-ups or companies can be considered as project partners.
Research Projects
BeLEARN offers researchers attractive workspaces in the heart of Bern and creates an inspiring environment for cross-university scientific work. For the duration of their projects, researchers receive feedback from the research community and end users. This feedback helps them to identify possible blind spots and untapped potential and to further develop their projects in a targeted manner. This enables them to sustainably improve the quality and relevance of their research.
Science Communication
BeLEARN publishes the research results of the projects on internal and external channels. To ensure the successful transfer of knowledge, the research results are presented in an understandable way and in various formats. In addition, regular events are held at which researchers can present their research findings to the scientific community and practitioners and enter into a dialog.
Productideas & Strategy Development
BeLEARN promotes interdisciplinary exchange between universities, companies, educational publishers, the Swiss EdTech Collider and other stakeholders. In order to recognize and fully exploit the potential of research results, BeLEARN initiates co-creative processes. Scaling opportunities are analyzed, new paths into the education system are developed and suitable sources of funding are identified in order to sustainably promote the integration of innovative solutions.
Developing of
Teaching Material
In the test and production phase, prototypes, concepts and software solutions are tested directly in everyday educational settings in order to evaluate their effectiveness. These field tests are carried out with partners such as the Swiss EdTech Collider and other stakeholders from the education sector. These practical tests make it possible to further develop solutions in a targeted manner and tailor them precisely to the requirements of the target group.
Integration & Upscaling
BeLEARN strives to promote the integration and scaling of innovative digital teaching materials and forms with didactic and pedagogical value. To this end, these solutions are made known to all BeLEARN stakeholders via internal and external channels and the exchange between those involved is promoted.
